The spokesperson said Nema will process grant payments within 10 working days of receiving invoices.īy the end of March, the Hawke’s Bay Disaster Relief Fund had distributed $1.7m across 2680 households and 50 community groups and marae, according to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.Īs of March 31, 3,938 applications had been received, with an additional 846 online applications started but not yet completed. One grant had been withdrawn and two grants had been declined. Of those, eight grants totalling around $447,000 have been approved or approved in principle, and 11 applications totalling $1.746m were being reviewed as of Thursday. Nema received 22 grant applications totalling $2.297 million from parts of the East Coast affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. The National Emergency Management Agency (Nema) provides a Welfare Support Grant on behalf of the Government for organisations affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.Ī spokesperson for Nema said that while they didn’t have a specific breakdown of Hawke’s Bay applications to the grant, they were able to confirm that most of the applications came from Hawke’s Bay. Local and central government agencies are still working through hundreds of applications for Cyclone Gabrielle relief grants, many of which are from Hawke’s Bay households, organisations and farmers.
